BIO.

SonicSoul is deeply rooted in Chicago blues but enjoys incorporating elements of rock, jazz, funk and reggae in their original music.   Singer and guitarist John Bruhnke first came on the blues scene in the early 1990's performing on the south side of Chicago as the lead guitarist for LV Banks.  After a year of steady gigging with LV, John joined Professor Eddie Lusk's band and hit the road.   During this time John had the opportunity to share the stage with blues icons such as Buddy Guy, Lonnie Brooks, Koko Taylor, Jr. Wells, Mighty Joe Young, Lefty Dizz and more!   John decided to go on his own and founded a band Blues Persuasion and performed in Chicago and throughout the midwest for much of the 1990's.

John stopped performing due to personal reasons until he reemerged on the Chicago blues scene in 2011.  John reconnected with an old friend and drummer extraordinaire, Kevin Johnston (who toured with Buddy Guy) to form a new band SonicSoul.  After a few different bass players, fate brought E.G. McDaniel, Blues Hall of Fame Bassist, into the group.   E.G.'s father, Floyd McDaniel, was a Chicago blues great who was a contemporary of T-Bone Walker.   E.G. toured Europe with Byther Smith and The Night Riders in '97 to launch his career that led him to work with a who's who list of  Chicago Blues Artists.   E..G. continues to work outside of SonicSoul with Mud Morganfield and The Jimmy Burns Band.

With E.G. joining the band, SonicSoul took shape as a power trio.  SonicSoul released their debut CD called “Never Too Late” in the summer of 2015 which led them to opening for artists such as Robert Cray, Guy King, Mike Wheeler, Lil Ed & The Blues Imperials, Selwyn Birchwood, Eric Davis, Matthew Skoller and more.  Since their debut nearly three years ago SonicSoul has focused on maturing as a band and has developed a sound drenched in the blues with tasty seasonings of funk, rock and jazz.   SonicSoul is poised to capture a wider audience and is at work on a new album of tightly crafted, grooving blues songs that are sure to get the people on their feet!
